Shakira Tells Billboard Boyfriend Gerard Pique is Very Territorial

Remember all of that noise about the steamy Shakira/Rihanna “Can’t Remember to Forget You” music video? Turns out, there may be an explanation for all of the girl-on-girl, er, attention – and it may leave a bad taste in your mouth.

In Billboard‘s new cover story on the singer, Shakira reveals that her boyfriend, soccer star Gerard Pique, is extremely territorial and doesn’t condone her creating music videos that feature other men.

“He’s very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women,” Shakira said in the interview.

She goes on to add that she doesn’t mind his restrictions – “I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person that he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna.”

While Shakira may find this kind of behavior endearing, others may view it as unhealthy (myself included). What are your thoughts on the issue? Protective, or obsessive?
