Radio One St. Louis along with native rapper Nelly have organized a “peace in the streets” campaign urging local Ferguson demonstrators to end the violence, amidst the rioting, looting and arrests stemming from the shooting death of Michael Brown.
Community leaders have asked for peace following President Obama’s address, and while Nelly has taken to the streets directly, Boogie D of Radio One St. Louis’ Hot104.1 is using the airwaves to share updates, allow listeners to vent and call for peace in the streets. CBSNews.com has full coverage below:
The station also airs public service announcements trying to minimize the violence, which Boogie D blames on a small minority.
“Now I just think it’s some really bad individuals taking advantage of an unfortunate situation,” he said.
“And to me they’re kind of hijacking the message of what those good protests have been doing for the last week or so.”
