Masterpiece: Birthday Girl Jazmine Sullivan’s Transformation
Jazmine Sullivan is an amazing artist who has finally came back into the musical folds to grace us with a modern-day portrait of a “Mona Lisa” – herself.
Turning 28 today, Jazmine was born and raised in one of the meccas of music – Philadelphia – to artistic parents. By 11 years old, Jaz was able to avoid the Sandman at It’s Showtime at the Apollo with her performance of “Accept What God Allows.” By age 13, young Jazmine was singing “Happy Birthday” at Stevie Wonder’s grandson’s birthday party.
In 2007, she signed with J Records, producing two albums before taking a short hiatus. Thankfully she’s back with a new record, Reality Show, and demonstrating what she learned, namely: “Every part of me is beautiful and I finally see/I’m a work of art/A masterpiece.”
Join us in celebrating Jazmine’s transformation in the accompanying gallery.
