‘Key & Peele’ Make Negrotown Look Super Appealing

The fact that a Black person is killed by a police officer every 28 hours is still a horrifying stat. But it wasn’t horrifying enough for comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele to stay away from satirizing on an upcoming sketch for the upcoming season of their Comedy Central show Key & Peele.
In the sketch, we see Key get stopped by the police for absolutely nothing, and he questions why the white officer wants to speak with him. Then the cop proves his big-and-badness by arresting him. But he puts Key in the car, Key bangs his head, and then he feels a little woozy. Out of nowhere comes Peele, looking very tattered and battered. He knows the cop, and says he can handle the situation from there, and that’s where the story begins…
Welcome to Negrotown!
It’s a magical town where Black people can live without fear of the police. Your neighbors say hi, and you actually reply back! Loans are approved, and, for the first time in history, a black man can catch a cab.
Key and Peele aren’t the only ones checking racism with comedy. SNL did the same thing last week with their sketch on police brutality. Parodies like these are happening more frequently, in such a a way we haven’t seen since In Living Color. Watch the Key and Peele sketch below. (WARNING: Video has NSFW language.)
