Jason Pierre-Paul Sues ESPN For Posting Medical Records
Jason Pierre-Paul Sues ESPN & Adam Schefter For Leaking Medical Records
As Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul continues to make strides in recovery after injuring his hand in a July 4 fireworks incident, he’s revealed his beef with ESPN.
JPP is suing ESPN and reporter Adam Schefter for posting his private medical records online, notes the NY Post. It was reported back in July that the hospital where Pierre-Paul was treated launched an aggressive internal investigation into how Schefter obtained the records. The records in question revealed that he was to undergo surgery for an amputated right index finger and receive skin graphs. The reporter then tweeted out the records to his four million followers.
“This action arises out of ESPN reporter Schefter’s blatant disregard for the private and confidential nature of plaintiff’s medical records, all so Schefter could show the world that he had ‘supporting proof’ of a surgical procedure,” the suit reads.
Pierre-Paul filed the civil suit in Miami Dade County; it doesn’t specify how much he’s suing for.
