Watch: Black Female Police Officer Posts Powerful Video About Alton Sterling, Philando Castile
Tensions and emotions are high following the back-to-back murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police, and even men and women in uniform are feeling outraged about the killings.
A video posted by a Black female cop giving a passionate speech about police brutality is going viral thanks to the unique perspective she offers, and the truth bombs she drops.
“I wear that blue uniform proudly,” Officer Nakia Jones begins.
“What hurts me the most are the people that stood in front of the judge, who stood in front of a mayor, ‘I swear my oath that I will serve and protect my community’…If you are white, and you are working in a Black community, and you are racist, you oughta be ashamed of yourself.”
She continues, “I’m here because I wanted to make a difference. But how dare you stand next to me in the same uniform and murder somebody. How dare you.”
Nakia Jones is a Cleveland police officer with the Warrensville Heights Police Department. Watch her full speech above.
