Athletes Representing North Texas in Paris Olympics 2024
Of course we are rooting for all of Team USA! But we have to go extra hard for our Texas Olympians! Check out 16 Athletes from North Texas that competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

First up in Track & Field, our very own Dallas native, Sha-Carri Richardson. Richardson ran the 100-meter and earned a silver medal running a time of 10.87. She was also able to secure the GOLD with her teammates in the Women’s 4x100m Relay.

Also in Track & Field is Jasmine Moore from Grand Prairie. She competed in the Women’s Triple Jump earning a bronze medal finishing with a distance of 14.67 meters. Her next challenge was in the Women’s Long Jump where she secured another bronze medal!

Last for Track & Field is Bryce Hoppel from Midland, Texas. Hoppel has secured his spot for the semi finals in the Men’s 800-meter race and ended up placing 4th overall.

In Swimming we have David Johnston from Dallas who competed in the Men’s 1500 meter Freestyle. Although Johnston tested positive for COVID, he still competed in the race but was only able to finish 18th overall and did not make the finals.

The next athlete is another Dallas native, Teal Cohen competed in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls Final in Rowing coming in 9th place. This is Cohen’s first Olympic games, but she is no stranger to winning as she won a gold and silver medal in the 2021 World Championships.

From Wylie Texas Jourdan Delacruz will be competing in Weightlifting in the Women’s 49 kg category. Texas is rooting for her as she competes for the gold!!

Chiaka Ogbogu is a Volleyball player from Coppell Texas. With her help Team USA was able to secure a spot in the Semifinals, but in the end were able to bring home a silver medal.

Out of Burleson, Texas, Conner Prince is a first time Olympian who manage to secure a silver medal in Men’s Skeet in Shooting! Prince was trained by three time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock who also secured a gold medal in the Men’s Skeet.

From Keller, Texas Austen Smith secured a bronze medal in Women’s Skeet and a silver in Mixed Skeet Team .This is Smith’s second Olympic games but was unable to shoot due to COVID-19, so this year she made sure to win! Smith was also trained by Vincent Hancock along with Conner Prince.

Sam Watson is from Southlake, Texas. Watson was able to secure his spot in the Men’s Speed semifinals in Sports Climbing, and beat the previous world record. He was able to bring home a bronze medal for this first time ever event in the Olympics!

The current No. 1 golfer in the World , Scottie Scheffler is from Dallas Texas! He recently won a gold medal for the USA in Men’s Individual Stroke Play.

Jaedyn Shaw from Frisco, although not competing due to a leg injury, is still alongside her teammates in Paris for the Soccer category. The USA women’s soccer team was able to make it all the way to the finals where they competed against Brazil and won the GOLD!

Hezly Rivera is a gymnast from Plano. Although Rivera did not compete in the final, She was able to help the Women’s Gymnastics team secure the gold medal for Team Finals.

Not from North Texas, but still a Texan! Nic Fink out of Houston won a silver medal in the Men’s 100- meter Breaststroke, a silver in the Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay, and a GOLD in the Mixed 4×100 Medley Relay.

Our last Olympian from Plano, Asher Hong. Hong participated in Men’s Gymnastics where they secured a bronze medal. Although this is Hong’s first Olympic games, Hong was the 2023 U.S. all-around champion, which means next Olympic games we will secure ALL the medals for Team USA.
At the end of the Paris Olympics 2024, the USA officially has the most medals coming in at 126, with Texas securing 41! Shout out to the home team for all their hard work, spirit, and dedication!
