Devin Haney v Ryan Garcia

Almost a year after their initial controversial boxing match, the two boxers have decided to run back the fight one more time. Last year, Garcia put on a heck of of a performance against the former WBC Super lightweight Champion, Devin Haney. Garcia destroyed the 26-year-old from San Francisco several times before a majority win decision was made.

But, celebrations of the win were cut short after  it was revealed ‘King Ry’ tested positive for an illegal substance, Ostarine. He was fined 1 Million dollars and was banned from the WBC for a year.

Fast forward today, Turki Alalshikh is the force behind negotiations and confirmed that a deal for a rematch is done. It is said to be scheduled in October. However, this is all said to be done contingent upon Haney and Garcia winning their warm up fights in May.

The two-time welterweight world champion Shawn Porter, with the PorterWay Podcast that he “back the ‘dream’ for Haney to bounce back and win the rematch, as he expects the  the 26-year-old to ‘write his wrongs’ against Garcia.”

Both Ryan and haney have mutual interest in redemption and settling a rivalry that began as young boxers.
