Fort Worth PD Call Out Dallas Police In “Not Like Us” Parody
Fort Worth PD wants all the smoke after Dallas Police put up a recruitment billboard in the 817. The officers responded with a Texas style remix to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’, calling out the massive sign and bringing up the 14 officers who moved departments from Dallas to Fort Worth.
The video gained over 100,000 views in 48 hours gaining major attention from local blogs and influencers. Beyond the fun, it highlights an important call to action for DFW residents that want to work in law enforcement. According to Fox 4, the Dallas Police Department has struggled to recruit and retain police officers for the last decade. Just last November, Dallas residents approved a ballot initiative requiring the city to increase the number of officers to 4,000. That’s roughly 900 more than the city currently employs.
However, this isn’t the first time Forth Worth PD has gone viral for their recruiting efforts. In 2022, they a created a video in the style of a car commercial that landed them a feature on Ft. Worth native and American Idol Kelly Clarkson’s Show! Fort Worth PD Officer Buddy Calzada, or “Big B” told Kelly, “We wanted to do something that was fun and would catch people’s attention.”
