Sunday, April 27, Dallas audiences are invited to witness a powerful production that blends heart, heritage and healing. A Princess In The Ghetto, written by Johnnie Johnson, hits the stage at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters. With two showtimes 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM, this unforgettable stage play is part of the city’s celebration of both Dallas Arts Month and National Poetry Month.

Directed by the visionary Iv Amenti with musical direction by the renowned Geno Young, the production stars Dallas’ own Koryan “Nayrok” Strode and the legendary Shuckey Duckey. Adding lyrical spark to the evening, celebrated spoken word artist I Am D Walk delivers a special performance that ties into the play’s poetic heartbeat.

Set against the backdrop of an unprovoked police shooting, A Princess In The Ghetto tells the story of a young woman trapped by circumstance, who is awakened by love, knowledge, and the power of possibility. It’s a journey of struggle, transformation, and self-discovery. A story of a girl who becomes more than a princess.

Some of the talented cast stopped by Radio One Dallas this week to share their excitement and insight into this deeply resonant story. Don’t miss this vibrant blend of theatre, music, and spoken word. An essential cultural experience this April in the heart of the city.

Tickets are available now at the TBAAL box office located at 1309 Canton St., Dallas, Texas 75201. Come celebrate the arts, the people and the power of storytelling.
