The Dallas Cowboys may have found their next star offensive lineman. With the 12th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected Tyler Booker, a guard from Alabama who brings size, skill, and swagger to a team that has relied on dominant offensive lines in its recent history.

At 6-foot-4 and 321 pounds, Booker excelled as a run blocker during his time with the Crimson Tide. A team captain and a first-team All-SEC selection, he was a foundational piece of one of the best offensive lines in college football. Booker feels confident his college success will translate to the NFL. “Turn on the tape,” Booker said. “For three years at Alabama, I just straight up dominated. I was that guy in the SEC for three years straight.”

Booker joins a Cowboys team in transition on the offensive front. The past three months have brought the retirements of two legends, Tyron Smith and Zack Martin, who both helped define the Cowboys’ identity for years. Recognizing the need to protect QB Dak Prescott and maintain control of the trenches, Dallas turned to Booker, hoping he can carry that legacy forward.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed the importance of this pick. “When you make somebody the highest-paid player in the NFL, you’d like to have something in front of him,” Jones said, referencing Prescott. “We are interested in making sure we have protection and the ability to move big guys out.”

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Booker’s mentality. “When you sit down and visit with this guy, he’s an alpha,” Schottenheimer said. “The interior of our pocket and the core of our run game need to dominate, and Booker gives us that chance.”

Rather than shy away from comparisons to Martin, Booker embraces the challenge of carving out his own legacy. “I’m going to learn what made Zack Martin great and add that to Tyler Booker. But I’m staying true to who I am,” he said.

With his frame, skills, and confidence, Tyler Booker may be just what the Cowboys need to usher in a new era of dominance up front.
